What a skin is

A skin is a cosmetic swap for a survivor. It changes the model you look at for the whole run and nothing else — the kit, the numbers and the hitbox stay exactly where they were. That matters because skin content is easy to talk up as if it were progression, and it is not.

Hallowed Concepts shipped a set of 16 of them, which is the largest batch of cosmetic content the game has received in one release. The developer describes them as unlockable rather than granted, so they are earned in game.

Who was left out4 survivors

The four characters without a skin are the newest ones: the two survivors that arrived with Alloyed Collective, and the two that arrived with Hallowed Concepts itself. A set designed around the existing roster excludes the characters shipping beside it, and it is worth knowing that going in if a skin is what you were hoping for from the newest survivors.

What a skin set usually costs you

The trade with any cosmetic unlock is time rather than money: the announcement frames these as things you unlock, which means a condition attached to each one. Historically that has meant playing the character rather than paying for the look, so the practical question is which survivors you actually want to spend runs on.

Two patterns are worth watching for specifically. Some unlocks are gated behind doing something difficult with the character, which means they double as a skill check. Others are gated behind simply reaching a milestone, which makes them a matter of time. Until the individual conditions are documented here, the survivor profiles are the place to start, since each one lists the challenges already tied to that character.

What is still being collected

  • The unlock condition attached to each individual skin.
  • Whether any of the 16 skins change particle effects or sound in addition to the model.
  • Skin counts for the expansions before Hallowed Concepts, since this page currently covers only the most recent set.

Frequently asked

Do skins change anything about a run?
No. A skin is cosmetic: it changes how a survivor looks and nothing about their skills, stats or hitboxes. If a shop page or a video implies otherwise, it is describing something the game does not do.
How many survivor skins came with Hallowed Concepts?
16 survivors received one, which is every character except the four added by the expansions that came after the set was designed.
Which survivors receive the Hallowed Concepts skins?
All 16 classic and early DLC survivors receive skins in Hallowed Concepts, while the four newest expansion survivors (from Alloyed Collective and Hallowed Concepts) retain their distinct default base appearances. Confirmed via developer patch notes and release announcements, this cosmetic set was tailored specifically for the established survivor roster. While post-launch expansion characters are outside this set’s scope, you can equip the unlocked skins in character select once acquired.
How are the skins unlocked?
The developer's announcement calls them unlockable rather than granted, so they are earned in game. This page lists who received one; the per-skin unlock condition is still being collected.
