What this expansion is
A Soul was born without purpose and locked away, and the developer's account is that her prison served as both sanctuary and shackle, with her fate sealed by her own flawless design. Over millennia her desperation grew, and from that solitude she brought another into the world she had lost. That being is The False Son, walking Petrichor V bound by the betrayal of his forebearer and by the corruption of a king's blind ambition.

Survivors3 added
- SeekerInstantly unlocked for owners of this expansion
Soul manipulation that damages nearby monsters while healing teammates, and which can revive fallen allies once you reach what the developer calls a sufficiently tranquil state. The intended skill is flowing between brawling and healing in the same fight.
- CHEFUnlocked through a cooking challenge rather than a fight
A returning character rebuilt for this game: the legs of past versions are replaced by a roller, and the kit is built on hurling cleavers and calling them back, which means the same cleavers hit on the way out and again on the way back.
- False SonUnlocked by freeing him from his shackles
A construct carved in the image of Providence, forged with the corruption of a hollow king and the heart of a golden titan. He is designed as an immovable object: massive scale, high health and heavy regeneration, devastating inside club range and awkward outside it, which is why line of sight and Lunar Spikes matter so much on him.
Stages it added
- Helminth Hatchery — sulfurous, brimstone-smelling ground
- Reformed Altar — Lemurian temple ground with large numbers of defenders
- Treeborn Colony — the lush green canopy
- The Colossus — an ascent rather than a stage, climbed in a race to reach the expansion's boss
What you fight
- Lemurian temples and their defenders form the expansion's core opposition.
- The False Son appears as the final confrontation, and is also the third playable survivor, which makes him the only character in the game you fight before you can play as him.
New items, plus the Colossus ascent
The expansion's most distinctive structure is the Colossus: instead of arriving at a boss through the normal stage rotation, you travel its path and ascend its levels until the confrontation happens. Beating The False Son is what unlocks the true power of his soul.
Why it plays differently
- This is the first expansion developed after Gearbox Software took over the series' development from Hopoo Games.
- Seeker is the first survivor whose kit includes reviving teammates as part of normal play, which changes what a team can recover from.
- The Colossus gives the expansion a vertical structure that the earlier content does not have.
Owning it in a lobby
Only one player in a lobby needs to own the expansion to enable it for everyone. The developer does not spell out the same item-unlock restriction in this expansion's text that appears in the other two.
