Hallowed Items
The eleven items you earn by trading away Hexes — the strongest items in the game, on the other side of a deliberate risk.
The short version
Hallowed Concepts items are the payoff of the expansion's central bargain. You take on Hexes — strictly negative items with no upside — and convert them into Hallowed Items. The developer describes the Hallowed Items as among the strongest in the game, so the calculation is whether your run can survive the Hex long enough to cash it in.
Known Hallowed Items2 of 11 named so far
Infernal Mark
Confirmed by official sourcesAttacks have a chance to apply Soul Brand. Soul-branded monsters draw the attention of nearby enemies and have friendly fire enabled, so the wildlife fights for you.
Dream Crucible
Confirmed by official sourcesOnce per stage, when another item goes on cooldown or is consumed, the Dream Crucible is consumed instead. It also works with N'Tormat Pages, letting you use them more than once per stage.
The developer confirmed there are eleven Hallowed Items in total but has only named these in public material. The remaining names and effects are being gathered from runs and community reports; until they are checked, this page lists what is confirmed rather than guessing.
How the trade works
- 1. You pick up a Hex. It occupies an inventory slot and makes the run worse, with no upside of its own.
- 2. You find the exchange. The developer has deliberately kept the exact method out of public material, describing it only as something you discover during a run.
- 3. You receive a Hallowed Item. These sit alongside the game's strongest items. Infernal Mark applies Soul Brand, turning enemies on each other; Dream Crucible absorbs a cooldown or consumption once per stage.
Why the bargain is worth it
The trade only makes sense if the Hallowed Item on the other side outweighs the pain you carried to get it. Because the developer places Hallowed Items among the strongest in the game, the usual reading is: how much can my build absorb right now, and can I reach the exchange before the Hex costs me the run?
That makes the Hex-to-Hallowed-Item exchange a tempo decision rather than a pure power decision. Early on, when a run is fragile, a Hex that inflates a boss or narrows your vision has the highest chance of ending things; later, once your build already answers the stage's threats, the same Hex is far cheaper to hold.
Hallowed Items next to Hexes
The two item types are the opposite ends of one mechanic. Hexes give you nothing until converted; Hallowed Items are the conversion result. Reading them together is the only way to understand the expansion's design, because the strength you are chasing is always priced in the risk you are carrying.
Frequently asked
Are Hallowed Items a separate rarity?
No. They are not an item tier you find in ordinary chests. They come specifically from the Hex exchange, which is why the developer frames them as a reward you earn by taking on risk rather than by opening loot.
How many Hallowed Items are there?
Eleven in total, according to the developer. Two are named and documented here; the rest are tracked as they are confirmed in runs and community reports.
